Debashis wins game at World Youth Chess Olympiad

Promising Orissa boy Debashis Das won his game to enable second seed India crush ninth seed England 4-0 in the second round of the World Youth (u-16) Chess Olympiad at Turkey today. K Priyadharshan, Girisk Koushik and Deepthamsh Reddy won the other three games for two-time champions India. According to All India Chess Federation, India blanked Sri Lanka 4-0 earlier in the opening round. K Priyadharshan, Aditya Udeshi, Girish Koushik and Preethamsh Reddy won the four games, while Debashis was rested. In the 22-team competition, India and fifth seed Georgia shared the lead with full eight points. The two countries face each other in the third round later today. The nine-round Youth Olympiad offers a maximum of 36 points. Four players from one nation face four players from another in each round. Top seed Russia is struggling on 5.5 points.
